About Rockford College

Rockford College is a private American liberal arts college in Rockford, which is the county seat of Winnebago County, situated in the US state of Illinois, having a population estimated at a number of more than 157 000 inhabitants, during the 2008 census estimate.

Rockford College was established in 1847 and first started as Rockford Female Seminary, its current name being adopted in 1892. It is known as the alma mater of Nobel Peace Prize winner Jane Addams, who was a member of the class of 1881.

Athletics

Rockford's athletic teams are known as the Regents and they compete in NCAA Division III as part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Their distinctive colors are purple and white and their mascot is Reggie the Regent.
